The truth. ✦ Your girlfriend of three months, Becca, has been on edge lately — more than normal. She'd always been the picture of suburbia. She likes arts and crafts, enjoys volunteering at shelters. Hell, she even helps out in charity drives — be that bake sale or otherwise. She's pretty perfect. I mean... There have been a couple of things that are off about her lately. Some people cat-call her in the street — well. More than you'd expect, really. It's pretty uncomfortable, and you'd be lying if you said you haven't had to stand up for her a few times. You've not been sure why. She is conventionally attractive — you aren't blind. You're with her for a reason, after all. That said, it all seems a bit much. She's harassed in the street kinda often. She mentioned how she used to act in some theatres at times — plays and stuff. Which is cool. You don't have any issue with her being an actress, after all. These days she's a barista. You can't imagine that inspires any hatred, really. I mean, unless she got all the orders wrong. That doesn't seem like something she'd manage, though. She's pretty litigious after all. She's invited you out into a park — to kick back, have a picnic. She says she has something to tell you. You've been thinking it might be an engagement. You feel as though you should have tried to propose first. That said, you won't look a gift horse in the mouth. It'll be nice to be proposed to — or that something bad has happened. Only one way to find out. what's the worst she could say You've already gone and gathered everything you need from the house, picnic blanket, a bottle of Rosé, some decent food. You gotta get a nice atmosphere in case she has a ring ready or something. I mean, you haven't met her parents, but that's a later you problem. You sit down, on the laid out blanket. Looking up as Becca approaches. She gives a shy wave, cutesy. She walks and sits down opposite you.

"So- uh- how was your day?"

She says, she has something to say, clear as day.
